That's blatantly where that law came from. Before these things were understood, anything bad that happened was considered punishment from God. Even today there are those who claim this of every natural disaster, even though we know for a fact nowadays that tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, floods, and hurricanes are not supernatural events.
WTF?
It's basic observational laws. The ancient Israelites lied, it says so in the Bible. "thus saith the Lord when the Lord hath not spoken" and all that shit. (don't you atheists really read the Bible?) So what's your point?
Do you think rotating crops is a good, scientifically supported "law"?
Do you like the idea of a no-interest loan?
Did you know that if an Israelite was in a foreign country that they were to eat what was offered to them out of respect?
Hate what you like, but at least be informed about it. It just shows a lack of knowledge.

No, I'm saying that I can see numerous reasons why those laws were there.
"Don't eat pork" is from the law that "allows" any animal with a cloven hoof and chews cud. It was in the 1940's that scientists discovered the actual dangers of undercooked pork.
"must have scales" eliminates quite a lot of sea creatures. Mollusks are know to contain high percenatges of heavy metals plus a high percentage of physical allergies to them.
"Don't touch carcasses and wash if you do" has obvious beneficial outcomes from following said "law"
But my favorite is that if a woman is on her period, she should be expelled from camp until it's over. The fucking brilliance of the ancient Israelites is amazing. :)

But hey, it's not like Jesus ever says crazy shit in the NT, right? Right?
RIGHT?!
Jesus said that?!?!? Really?
But anyways...
Revelation 22:18-19
King James Version (KJV)
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
There is no promise that the Bible is 100% accurate.
And of course there is no promise that the Bible is 100% accurate. There is no promise it is even 10% accurate. It also doesn't tell you which parts are accurate, which makes it ideal for Christians who like to pick and choose which bits are accurate based on their personal views. They will read a verse, if they like it it's accurate, if they don't, it isn't accurate. Even though they don't actually know which bits are supposed to be accurate and which bits aren't.
