Yes, and no. There are laws specific to married couples, after all. For instance, you cannot be compelled to testify against your spouse. A hospital has to allow you to visit your spouse, unless the patient requests otherwise. You are automatically considered the next-of-kin. Any rug rats that come along are automatically considered his responsibility even if he ups and books.
Oh, and one more thing- even though this isn't a law, if she ends up meeting a sudden violent demise, he's the prime suspect.
