Yes, we can. I said, "...we can analyze our nature more critically than other animals and make decisions from what we learn."
I know other animals can learn. My puppies have learned that little dirt area is potty area. What is great about the way we function is that we can rationalize, investigate, experiment, analyze in a whole other level. My puppies learned that their little bed areas are comfy so they go there to sleep. Humans learned how to make whole cities with buildings, businesses, homes, schools, etc. It's about what we do with new information. I can't remember the exact words or who said them, but someone said something to the effect of, "When the facts change, I change my mind." Well, I change my mind about white people. I know now that not all of them hate me (and I still know some do). If I would have judged them all as racists, but still approached them in an effort to allow room for possibility of being mistaken, I would not be sorry. I'd be proud of myself. But for so many years I stuck to people I felt comfortable with and did not allow myself to interact with whites (I didn't even realize it). I am sorry because I acted upon ignorant bias while judging them for doing the same exact thing to me.
A person who denies facts is abnormal.
that's not my elemental point though. there is nothing wrong with prejudice beyond what "modern" society says.
