This quote does not indecate that science and religion should not be seperated!
Other than that, the two cannot be connected because one is something personal, the other is not.
Adding to that, religion often stands in the way of scientific progress.
There is no need to separate religion and science, because science is simply finding out more about the world God created and the way it works. It is a false division.
Religion has nothing to defend in front of science, because science is just a testimony to religion. Science investigates the laws functioning on the universe as instituted by God.
Fundamentalist belief that the world is 10000 years old, yes, is harmful to science, because it pins the Bible against observable fact. The Bible is merely a creation which has a part in the created universe.
