RE: Foreign Intervention in Syria?

If chemical warfare is an issue, then it would be difficult to explain why we -wouldn't- intervene.
On the other hand, as far as I'm aware, Syria is not part of the CWC.
My humble opinion of what intervention like this (knowing full well that it carries no weight) should be....is the forced cessation of hostility between the two parties (if needs be firing in both directions and soaking up munitions from all comers) - alongside the destruction of all chemical weapons. Then we roll out and let them resume whatever ridiculous shit they're going to resume regardless. I know, I know, a horrible concept of intervention - stressing neutrality, achieving a clearly stated humanitarian goal, and then leaving people to make their own policy decisions without our boot on their necks - all at great cost with little to no material gain on the part of those who intervene.
