From what's announced, it won't be backwards compatible with the PS1 or PS2, and may get PS3 compatibility in 2014. On that latter point, I expect them to turn it into a profit center (i.e. I wouldn't expect that you'll be able to load a PS3 disc without paying something to Sony).

Well then... it'll be ten years before I take the plunge for the system I can get most PS2 games for about 10 dollars right now... new. And those are the good and particularly successful titles

Give it to the end of the PS4's lifetime... and its titles will be cheap as dirt I'm okay being late to the party... iz economical.

Real life is a game... pretty good graphics, but it's hard to separate the good from the bad. 6/10.

'Need' is a strong word. Do you need to have plumbing, markets, particularly clean water, or to live in a non-dystopian environment? Probably not. Should you not complain if you don't NEED to pay for these things?
