I love the idea of a basic income guarantee... I had not heard this was being implented in namibia.......
the us labor movement was going to have us all working 4 days a week 4 hours a day with 4 weeks of vacation, with unlimited free education for all........ regardless of age, current education, or immigration status..........essentialy you could stay in school all your life......... but this was destroyed for several reasons (belch!!! reagan) now we have to work 4 jobs too survive and tuition is so high most americans say a college education is simply not worth it why? because it won't earn you enough monetary gain compared to the cost of paying back your student loans or paying tuition
there is no red menace we are not fighting japan or the nazis anymore there really is no point to "producing" as much as possible.... we should be building a greater society
Quote:A two-year, basic income pilot program just concluded in Otjivero, Namibia. Each of 930 villagers received 1000 Namibian dollars (US$12.40) each month. Malnutritition rates of children under five fell from 42% to zero. Droupout rates at the school fell from 40% to almost zero. It led to an increase in small businesses.
