Had we not interfered right at the calcifying moment for the 5 Nations (just one example, there are others) we may well have stumbled upon a veritable native american empire not but a few short years later. Most native american cultures had a very thorough and rigid social system...and exploitation of others (and environment/resources) was particularly pronounced in the NE (where there was opportunity to do so).
