Since our species is only, at most, a little over 200,000 years old on a planet that is roughly 4.54 billion years old, and the fact that Christianity, even the old testament part, is pretty Johnny Come Lately to the religion thing, how exactly are you justifying your religion again?
GC, I think you're a good person. Why has religion dug it's claws so deep into your psyche? Have you realized, yet, that you can actually be a much more decent person if you let go of these false, unsupportable concepts?
It's true. Just be brazenly honest with yourself. What is the old religious battle cry? "If God is with us, who can stand against us?"
If God is real, he's not going to be threatened or punish you for intellectually exploring whether any of this makes sense.
Unless you were raised to believe in another Southern Baptist god that is drastically different than the one I was raised to believe in.
If God is the way and is "The Truth", you should fear nothing for exploring every aspect of it intellectually. Nothing is off limits. Hold the concept, not the god, to strict intellectual standards.
If your god is real, he can take it. Or do you consider your god too weak to fend off such intellectual honesty?
