Retribution for Slavery or Racism? Can this even be done?

That was my entire point. Thank you for showing that I missed the mark. What I'm saying is that the "perpetrators" from which retribution is being sought, haven't done anything illegal. Therefore asking them to pay for a crime of any kind isn't the same as one feeling owed justice for the defined crime outlined above, that was done directly to "me" and "my family" as outlined in the analogy I responded to.

Indeed. Their use of slaves of the day was quite legal, and after it was declared illegal, some people stopped using slaves, while some were forced to stop using slaves but the point is, those who have used slaves illegally have already paid in blood.
Though there is also another matter, in which I do understand the african american community, though appealing to their former masters is not going to win them a thing.
