1. Prayer is not a formal wishing ceremony. It's not a way for Christians to change their lots in life, and it is certainly not a way to change the mind of God. Prayer is a tool used to change the mind of the one who is praying to seek and accept God's will and to make it their own.
"But people pray for stuff they want all the time."
Quote:2. You're not supposed to pray for things you want.No. Your supposed to want what God wants for you. That what prayer is. A way to ask God to change your will to meet His. So that your 'wants' become what He wants for you. "Your will be done on Earth (In my life) as in Heaven
Quote:"The Lord's Prayer asks God for food.""Daily bread" is a need not a want sport.
Quote:3. That's something God wants you to want, so it's okay.If you formally wish it is deem a supplication and not a prayer. Christ gave an example of prayer and if we are to pray we must follow His example. In his example there was not a portion that has us wishing for personal gain/stuff.
"So what you're saying is it's okay to formally wish for stuff through prayer?"
Quote:This is just the easy stuff on the surface. If you go back through all his posts and compile all the things he has thus far said about prayer, you would come back with an incoherent, self-contradictory jumble of utter nonsense.Only if you straw man it together as you have.
