Jesus gives you the completed interpretation of the scripture and ultimately God himself upon which everything in the Bible was based. Jesus himself had little time for the man made laws and regulations of the Bible/Jewish traditions as he flouted them on many occasions. When questioned about this by the more pious Jews he essentially told them to fuck off.
Atheists seem to think that people who have faith need to check their minds at the door and blindly follow everything written to the letter. It says stuff about not mixing clothes of two different kinds in Leviticus. Do we have to obey these laws today? Well no. Do we still have to adhere to the one God of the universe and the teachings of Christ? Absolutely yes we do. Focusing on the entire point is not cherry picking.
Come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant.
