Let me break this down even further for you with my own little translation.
"The heathens (disbelievers) did not see that the heavens and the earth were sewn, for he unseamed them and made everything from water? As they live do they not believe?"
So you have to believe (or have faith) in order to see how God actually had sewn everything together, but then he unseamed it all. No reference to expanding it or strewing the bits and pieces about. And then what's this little bit about everything being made from water? Even YOU should call bullshit on that. Compared to everything the universe is made up of, water seems to be one of the least.

Those words translate into English the same way they did hundreds of years ago. Are you saying that the meaning of the words originally orated by Mohammed were changed over time in the actual Arabic text?
