Probably a question best expanded on in a dedicated thread, but does this god-entity-thing need to have been intelligent? Or even conscious?
What I'm getting at is we already have fairly substantial explanations for what caused the Universe and though nobody has yet been able to pin down precisely whatever caused that cause, there doesn't seem to be any evidence to suppose it was ever alive; however you wish to define that term.
