That is very naive. A simple google search will give a whole community of people who say they have seen them.

You seriously think I'm very naïve because I've never sat down at my computer and thought, hmmm, I wonder if anyone claims that garden gnomes grow grass...I think I'll google it? Really?

But anyway, link to some of these claims and we'll consider them.

You've heard the claim now. Do you accept or reject it, and what is your reasoning behind accepting or rejecting it? You don't have to look up anything, you only have to know what you think.

There's an obvious reason to dodge the question: you can't thinik of a reason not to believe in lawn-growing garden gnomes that doesn't work equaly well as a reason not to believe in God.
