So, she feels that the moral compass she has been looking for lies behind the walls of one of the most corrupt churches in history? Lmao!!!
The hilarity of it aside, I was Catholic but I went through the Sacraments as a kid ..it takes about six months as an adult from start to finish, going through the classes and the conversion process one takes to becoming a Catholic. In other words, if she is willing to go through that, she might be serious about it.
The Catholic Church has some beautiful traditions, but its early clergy wrote the bible, "omitting" certain texts. The bible is a man made construct, as is the Catholic Church.
Religion provides a sense of false comfort though for many. I used to be one of those many. I would rather be an atheist and struggle through life on my own than a Christian clinging to lies and false hope.
The fact that you posted the word "competition," should tell you that religion is a joke. Competition? The almighty God needs mere mortals competing over him?
This is one of the many sad tragedies within religion. It causes hostility and "competition."

Which is bad enough the Pope is just a man like us at the end of the day and can't pretend to talk for God or make pronouncements on Gods behalf. The prophets were elected by God and the Pope is elected by other humans.
Quote:I was worried my irony meter wouldn't take the strain of a CoE twat whingeing about man-made sovereigns twisting and corrupting the original faith, but it appears to have survived intact, though it may need to be retuned
I'm only CoE by geographic coincidence I would prefer it if there weren't any denominations, sects, cults, monarchs or Popes or anything else like that. It should all just be one united faith in the one God through Christ. All these different infighting factions just serve to weaken the faith as a whole certainly in this day and age when it's up against some hard competition from other religions like Islam and what you could call secular fundamentalism.
