It should appeal more to atheists as God is entirely irrelevant to it. Or perhaps Raelianism would appeal even more, God is an alien, perfectly scientific and nothing at all supernatural about it. Though if God was a created being there's the classic question of who created God and who created him and so on. Atheists like to try and apply that to an eternal God who always existed without understanding the point.
This guy here is technically in the same camp as you. Does he look like the a figure of enlightened reason? This is what what can happen when you start to claim God doesn't exist or is irrelevant, daft cults like Scientology and Raelianism.
