The fact that there is an argument over this on facebook just shows how stupid the human race can be. I honestly thought when I first read it that there had to be something I was missing, because you learn the order of operations in middle school.

Some people got 6 by doing the following:

3 + 3 x 3 - 3 + 3

3 + 9 - 3 + 3

3 + 9 - 6

12 - 6

6

You can also get 18 if you do this:

3 + 3 x 3 - 3 + 3

6 x 3 - 3 + 3

18 - 3 + 3

15 + 3

18
