The problem I have is that I just can't take Hell seriously. To me, it's like being threatened with the Avada Kedavra spell, or being on Santa's "naughty" list. I for the life of me can't see why anyone feels fear over it (except gullible small children). Try taking Santa's list seriously and you'll know how I feel. You just can't take it seriously, right?
I can't figure how a god who loves me would condemn me- or anyone- to eternal torture. I can't think of anyone bad enough enough to deserve ETERNAL torture. It's a punishment totally disproportionate to any crime- especially the crime of just not being able to believe in something. I could fake it (which is what Pascal's wager comes to), but if there really is a god, he'd know that, so why bother faking it?
I can see how an evil god would do such a thing, but even in that light I just can't get there. It's too fantastically counterintuitive. I'm more interested in spending the one life I know for sure I have well and fully, and finding good reasons for my actions.
