RE: Why do Atheists spend so much time debatng the existence of God?

Frankly I only debate this with people who try to convert me, and living in the bible belt of 'Murica it happens a good bit, or those that ask me about my religious views. As far as it being irrational and hypocritical to the "only life I have to live" business and it being a waste of time, please that's such bull.
Religion is a poison and the worst creation that man has ever wielded upon itself, if I can prevent the indoctrination of others around me that I care about by talking with them about the existence/non-existence of god then it's my ethical responsibility to do so. Their lives are important too, and they shouldn't live them under the shadow of a fairy tale.
