The people were scattered and the nation dissolved for around 1900 years, but was restored in the 1940's. Never has this happened with any nation, let lone one connected with a prophecy. But you're right we can't, only an omniscient God could.

My problem with that way of thinking is that you could predict almost anything you could think of, and if you wait long enough, it just might happen. I could predict that Israel will become an Arab state, and 1500 years from now, it might happen. Who can say for sure? I gave no timeframe, so it is applicable for all eternity. Maybe the 20th century creation of Israel isn't the one meant in the bible. Maybe it will break up in 50 years, then come back together in the 22nd century? Not likely? Can you predict the future? There's just too much vagueness to believe any prophecies. Remember, Tyre was meant to be washed out to sea and Jesus was supposed to return in the lifetimes of his apostles, and those things never happened. Or were they just metaphors? =P
