Because in 2013 we'd like to think that we've grown beyond having our children dress up as members of a hate group.
Well, I personally do not care. Its not really offensive to me.
Besides, there is also this to consider: hate group for one, has perhaps a higher meaning for another. Perhaps the family is proud to be members of the KKK. They might not really agree with your thoughts about them, as if they did, they probably would not be dressing their children like that.
Besides, I'm quite interested about how you came to decide what is beyond our time and what is not, my friend.
Obviously hate still exists, and people who hate do exist, and people who form groups based on that hate(whereas I don't really think that the KKK is specifically a hate group) so it means its still relevant. Like, isn't the antifa a hate group? But they are relevant to today's world by leftist standards.
