If the only thing that binds Americans together is the promise of wealth through something called "opportunity", what can you expect?
If you can't connect to the founding fathers, and the people who made up the majority of the US when it was founded, Christian European immigrants, then its really easy for you to say what you say. But there are people who can connect to the people who have founded your country, and wish to keep this connection alive.
