Actually moths don't see something bright and head towards it. They are trying to fly in a straight line is all. Sadly, they evolved navigating with a light source at optical infinity (the moon). With that they have only to keep its light at a certain visual position (say 2 O clock) and they will fly in a straight line. But with a close light source like a candle, keeping it at 2 O clock causes then to fly in a spiral as the keep vectoring in to correct their course.
