I apologize, again, for sounding rather absolutist about meds. I know someone who doesnt know anything of their own psychosis and does not respond to meds. So they cannot acknowledge that they have psychosis, in other words. But yes, you clearly show it is not the end if meds do not work.
This is not a complete answer, but it is a beginning. It is a complex question which all too many times is "simplified" to the point of uselessness, a simplification which results in feelings of powerlessness and helplessness.
