I've met and dated men whom I initially put a "no" on their forehead, but its always always the personality that created the attraction. Intelligence, swagger, personality traits I find admireable.. I don't just initially look at someone and think, "I'd fuck them or I wouldn't fuck them". I look at the whole picture.
Maybe women are just more progressive like that. I know for a fact, those types of relationships based on more than physical attraction (though it is crucial), have a better chance at longevity and positive outcomes. I am going to go ahead and say that some both women and men have different levels of maturity that dictates how they find a mate.
Ehhh I wouldn't say women are "more progressive" than that. More than a few women are entirely shallow in their reasonings. "You are rich, ergo I am attracted." Sounds pretty shallow. Just as an example.
The females of the species want the male with the most rocks. The males of the species want certain physical traits in the females, from selective instinct on both accounts. Success = higher likelihood for survival and ability to provide. Physical appearances: Better genetics, better offspring, who will be successful more likely and more likely to pass on their genes as well.
