Perhaps I'm biased because I pre-ordered it and my expectations were through the roof. It was the first Final Fantasy I disliked. That was to be followed by X, which I couldn't even make myself finish. XII was pretty awesome. For me, though, the golden age was between IV and VII.

Aww, no FFVIII? Love that game. Loved the story and the graphics, the battle system was alright, and I really liked the characters, except Rinoa, because she was a pansy little priss xP
