The Final Fantasy Series

Me and my brother have been systematically working our way through the Final Fantasy games lately.

We started at the original and we've currently finished our way all the way up to Final Fantasy 6.

I've always been a huge fan of the FF Series, and it's so easy to fall in love with the games. Most of the major titles for the game series are just epic and awesome with fantastic story lines and game play elements.

Final Fantasy VI has to be the best though. It's easily got the best story, for it's time it was super cinematic, and the game play is just the best ever!

Seriously, for all those RPG nerds out there, you gotta know what I'm talking about

My personal favorite is 7. But my second atempt was worse than the first when i beat it, damn its a good game though.

I've played them all except 11 and 14.

Loved 3, 6 [Japanese titles], 7 (obviously), 8, and really liked 10. Enjoyed 12 too, disliked passionately 13. That wasn't an RPG, just a colourful linear path with levelling.

Personal favourite is 7 for the story. I can even play it now and it conjures memories of when I first played it in 1997 and got completely immersed in the world I was playing in. I loved all the characters and all their stories. Cliche I know, but it was the first post mega drive/ sense game I played , and it's stuck with me my entire life for the memory of playing it.

For gameplay I enjoyed 10 and 12. Although I find it hard to compare because I loved 3 as well.

NOTE: I'm talking about the Japanese 3, not the US 3 which is the Japanese 6, which I also really loved.

My first ever was VIII. Liked enough to try another from the series... everyone said nice things about VII, so I gave it a shot.
Both nice games, but way too long.

Incidentally, the iOS store currently has a sale on square Enix titles including FF3, 4 & 5, so might download 5 as I haven't played that in a long time.

I like Final Fantasy too (favorite was a toss up between VI and VIII), but then something happened in 2003. I got a taste of Fallout 2 and Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn on my cousin's computer, and my best friend got both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind on his Xbox. I haven't been able to sit through a JRPG since then, with the exception of the tactical offshoots like Fire Emblem, Tactics Ogre, and the Final Fantasy: Tactics series on the Gameboy Advance.

6 is definitely the best. It is one of my favourite games of all time. There is just something it has that all the others do not.
I'm actually playing through it again on my phone as it was just released on mobile devices. yay. I wish that hot piece of ass Locke would come and rescue me some day.

The only FF game I played was the IV, but I stopped playing after Cecil became a paladin.

I'm thinking of trying a PS2 emulator and playing the pre-3D games. Playing FFVI in college was probably the happiest time of my life.
