It's all wishful thinking and I can say I have looked into it and for a time I tried to convince myself that if I died here and now I'd wake up again somewhere else. However despite giving myself false sense of safety and asurance I knew I was only fooling myself. Blinding myself to the reality at hand. This wishful thought of comfort in the personal belief of another place must first be created by you. Think about it, you and I were never born with the idea of going to another place. It was thought up. A blissful afterlife is a delusion for those who seek comfort from reality.
I dont' care what they believe. A lie is a lie no matter how many believe it or how strongly. What I don't like is that they feel the need to press their personal beliefs on others by threaterning us with hell. It's unacceptable and I'm sure that if there is a god and he is as wise as they say, then he'd think it's unacceptable too. Anyway according to the bible - "Do not judge. Mt.7:1,2.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned"
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
