You all are so concerned over a Bible verse that pertained to a people being punished by God by allowing them to go into slavery.
Why are you not concerned about the slavery in today's world, why are you not doing anything to help and prevent the slave trade going on under your nose. There are more slaves today than at any other
Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves time in history, why do you ignore these people, is it because it's out of your sight so out of mind. Christian groups are raising money to bring awareness to this terrible crime, and you would have this money taxed so less would be available to do this good work, they are working throughout the world to help end this atrocity. Christian networks are growing every year to abolish the modern day slave trade, it's in your backyard so what have you done.

Well it is nice to know that you are against slavery. So how did you come to this conclusion? It certainly wasn't from the Bible.
Sure it was, my parents who are Christians taught me that mistreating others because of the color of their skin is absolutely wrong.

I love that you start out by saying how sidetracked things have gotten, and then go for unrepentant deflection.
GC: two wrongs don't make a right. I shouldn't have to remind you of this, it's kindergarten stuff, but there you go. The slave trade existing today is terrible, but the fact that it does exist in no way excuses the fact that it was biblically sanctioned in the past, and that your good book is not so good because of it.
What you've said isn't even an argument! It doesn't address the issue at all. Would you excuse the fall using the same logic? "Oh, Adam sinned against god, but there's fruit theft going on today, and where's god in all that? What right has he to punish us, when millions of apples go missing every day!"
Don't make me fucking laugh.
I wouldn't dream of bring a laugh to you. I wasn't making an argument, I made a point that everyone has neglected to answer. I wasn't even going to say anything about it till you chimed in, so what are you doing to help free people from the slave trade of today, Christians are going in and smuggling them out where they can, while you sit on your little butt and do nothing. By the way the Adam thing fails, what an incredibly dense person you are, you can't even see the simplest things scripture offers.

Tripwire you just have to ignore this one, don't let him work you up like that, Chad and the rest of the Christians here over look him. He is irritating but harmless.
Hope you have a pleasant stay.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
