What if Jesus died for his own sins?
August 18, 2016 at 3:21 pm
In reading the Bible the main villain is certainly Jehovah. No one has killed more people for no apparent reason. No one makes more demands to be worshiped. No one "burns with anger" more than Jehovah. Also, he is a jealous god. I think these are all sinful things.
Let's not forget that if there is any being in the Judeo-Christian universe capable of committing infinitely many sins, it's Jehovah.
Perhaps Jehovah is actually respectable in that he only holds himself accountable, and he doesn't hold us accountable for what we do (especially considering that he is omniscient and that he made us). So maybe Jesus' death was really just Jehovah punishing himself so that he wouldn't be a hypocrite.
Can this perhaps be the core principle of a Christian denomination? After all, it's already been proven that if Jesus was supposedly dying for our own sins then his sacrifice is pointless because God is above the law anyway (as evidenced by the fact that he breaks his own law all the time) and so being above the law he can just forgive sins without need of ritualistic blood sacrifice. I think that, on Christianity, the logical conclusion is that Jesus died for his own sins.
Jesus is like Pinocchio. He's the bastard son of a carpenter. And a liar. And he wishes he was real.

Jesus died because he was weak and stupid. It says so in the bible, people.

What if Jesus didn't die at all? And I'm willing to ride with the legend for a second because as I always say, Jesus, according to the trinity is the immortal, eternal and omnipotent god. There's nothing to add. Jesus couldn't die if he was god, and if he wasn't, the trinity flies out the window.

Unfortunately, no, because christ is a title and a job description - not a name. It could be a core principle of a cult in the periphery...just as christianity is not judaism.

See, there's the trouble.....you think that logic applies to magic.

I'm holding out for an explanation of the purpose served by Jesus, the supposedly sinless one, submitting to the rite of baptism at the hand of John. Was it necessary or just a bit of exemplary spiritual theater? Somehow I doubt that the flesh-and-blood Jesus (assuming he existed) considered himself sinless, else the baptism and the so-called Lord's Prayer he taught (and, one assumes, prayed himself) really would have had no meaning in his own life.

The baptism was where the holy spirit raped Jesus - spiritual rape. It entered him without his consent. Now Jesus wants to spiritually rape us all as prophesied in the Old Testament.
