It occurs to me that Drich's response on this and on the Tyre prophecy are good argument for the bible being shit. If these were just occasional gaffs, a Christian apologist would be okay with taking it up the ass occasionally. He could say, frankly, okay, the Exodus and Tyre are shit, but the rest of it, eh, eh, pretty good, eh? No, the reason apologists like Drich defend such obvious absurdities like this is that they realize that it's all a house of cards, that if any of it fails, the rest will come falling down like a ton of bricks. It's an obvious ackowledgement that none of the parts stand up on their own; you can't defend Christianity in parts because the parts themselves don't hold up to examination. So apologists like Drich are committed to defending the stupid bits as passionately as the good bits. And they do so because they realize that if any of the stupid bits don't hold water, then by implication, none of the good bits are evidence of God, because the bible stands or falls as a whole.
Oddly enough, there's another area in life where you either swallow it whole, or not at all. That's the con game. If the mark ever catches the scent that he's being conned, it's over for the game. The bible is defended in the same way as the con. There are no "little details" that you can ignore in a con, because if the mark catches wind of them, it's time to find another mark.
So what apologists like Drich are secretly telling you is, if you don't believe them on the most absurd parts, there's no point in believing them on the sensible bits. And quite frankly, that ship sailed long ago. Bible believing fucktards like Drich only do what they do because they're too stupid to realize that, no matter how many of these battles they win (or, in Drich's case, just deluded themselves into believing they've won), they've already lost the war. If you absolutely have to defend every last dribble of cock juice that came out of some bronze age asshole's pen, you've got bigger problems than an occasional anachronism or failed prophecy.
