Yeah, I've seen this commonly done when I was young, going to sunday school. You start with a verse in one part of the book, then jump to other verses. Sometimes going from the old to the new, or vice versa. If god left them because they sinned, as the guy in the video guessed, then what exactly did he do between those battles that made god leave. If it was just about not over extending themselves, why didn't god just say to only take the mountain, and leave the people.

It smells real fishy. The video wasn't too bad to watch, but it really seems like he's grasping at straws.

By no means is he grasping at straws, how many times in studying different subjects in school did you have to go to different parts of a book to put together a solution or even different references, I see different references in foot notes all the time. You must remember these books were written at different times, just as reference materials are. So exactly why would you think the study of the scripture would be any different than other studies.
