It's wishful thinking if you don't believe God exists to begin with but you only believe God doesn't exist because in your own opinion which is not based on evidence (evidence that can't be interpreted as being the work of a higher being so you can't use evolution and the big bang as evidence). When it comes to faith in God (faith is not knowledge you can be wrong) you have evidence/s and logic and reason to back it up with. Atheism says God doesn't exist and then doesn't explain why. Atheism declares that God must be proven with science when science can only study what God created and the mechanisms and natural processes involved not God himself.
