Not to mention that all the images that most people have of hell are from Dante's 'Inferno' and John Milton's 'Paradise Lost'. Both written long after (1300 and 1600 years) the Bible.
All the images the OP probably has of hell are completely non-Biblical.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
