Just look at how hard the media is trying to attack the Pope, and how much every one of his visits anywhere is a giant event. He holds more power than most presidents, and what would be more fitting for the heir of Peter ?
I'm pretty sure Miley Cyrus can draw a larger crowd, have people pay for it, and not need a bulletproof enclosing to wave at people.
Just saying.

Not true at all. The same christian public that lobbies for the abolition of gay marriage and abortion laws is the majority in this country. The same public that makes their traditions sacred, but can condemn others to hell because they don't share the same belief, all under the guise of being a good and moral Christian. Christianity isn't about peace - it never was. It's about control, and more often than not, profit. Actions speak louder than doctrine.

But our holy books were put together from the writings of the prophets by holy men who wanted everyone to receive and understand the Lord's message. There is no intention to control.
Receive the Lord's message - by means of such vague wording that there are 30,000 denominations within Christianity alone. The intention to control was there from the beginning.
