The thing is, there wouldn't have been a need for "leftism" political correctness if there hadn't been such harsh and cruel discrimination against certain groups, throughout American history.
Relating to the economy ...Capitalism has mainly benefitted white heterosexual men who make up the majority of CEOs in the US (still), so again...that's why we are seeing this economic shift into Socialism. I think Socialism is not a bad ideal but it isn't the left's fault that white heterosexual men discriminated against African Americans, homosexuals and women for decades. It still goes on albeit there are laws in place to protect these groups.
