UPDATE:

I FIXED IT!

Found and installed the latest Realtek HD Audio manager, (released Jan 2009)which was NOT the one picked up by the update manager.

Sound is now spiffo

The warning about the non loading resource file is also gone

Thanks to everyone who helped.

I'm so pleased I could just shit.. Big Grin
