As for your person relationship working as any other relationship, I have to disagree. Other relationships comprise of regular people with corporeal bodies. How does a relationship with a deity work?
The Bible did not make me a believer. My relationship with Christ is similar to the relationship that you have with your best friend.
So what DID make you a believer? HOW did you form a relationship? Because if it's anything like a human relationship (which I still doubt), you have to decide to go into it.
As for it being the same as the relationship I have with my best friend, how do you make that comparison? I go out with my friend. I call them on the phone. We have long conversations about all sorts of things and laugh together at bad jokes. We can touch each other. As far as I know, people don't do this with deities.
So, specifically, what does you relationship with Jesus entail?
