The flood account can be interpreted in several ways. I lean more to a global flood

Global flood is not scientifically possible. Not enough water on Earth to do it.

I do not quite follow how you came to this conclusion...

The author of Genesis states that the flood was due to the floodgates of heaven being opened and the fountains of the great deep bursting open which together led to a catastrophic downpour of rain that prevailed upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

Incidentally, the latest discoveries by geophysicists have substantiated the theory that there are vast stores of water located in the transition zone of the earth's mantle. It is estimated that these vast underground stores of water some 250 miles underground contain enough water to equal the total volume of water in all the earth's oceans combined.

The interesting thing Rahul, is that the author of Genesis somehow knew this thousands of years ago!

For he writes in Genesis 7:11b - in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened.

Rahul, how would this author of Genesis have known that there were "fountains of the great deep" thousands of years ago when only recently have we discovered evidence that support the theory that such vast stores of water exist?
