Did he? Than what force compelled him to sacrifice himself on a cross? Without that sacrifice, there could be no forgiveness? Why? I can forgive without killing myself. Why is my capacity to forgive greater than a god's? Why is a blood sacrifice even required at all, never mind by a god that makes all the rules?
Essentially, you're claiming that Yahweh sacrificed himself as the only means to convince himself to change the rules he makes in the first place.
