Same here.
I'm a casual fan but was introduced to the extended canon by a coworker who was an uber-fan; I think he had a podcast that he and a friend of his did where they reviewed the books. I am offended on behalf of him and the other super fans when Lucas monkeys with the films.

I appreciated some of the "fixes" that Lucas did when he went through and updated some of the scenes back when he first did it; when he fixed the smudging out the wheels on Luke's speeder and CGIing windows in Cloud City and a couple things like that because it added ambiance or updated what they couldn't do with SFX in the 70s.
But I'm largely on board with the "stop fucking with them" crowd, especially when they CGI'd Hayden Christensen into RotJ as Anaken.
