The old man did act reasonably here, but that's just one case out of many. It's a tricky thing trying out how to control guns. I'm on the fence on what the hell to do about the gun issue, because either way some one is going to get screwed so it's basically just trying to figure out what is going to do the bigger damage. If people don't have them then they can't protect them selves, but if everyone has them a lot of innocent folk are also going to get screwed. Bleh. Heck, if I know, but nothing has seemed to work so far. Alcohol kills more people than guns and there isn't much of a fuss, lol. Have they even put alcohol purchase restrictions on peoples driver's licenses for having multiple DUIs? Our most fatal drug is served around every corner. Oh, I'm not anti-booze at all, but I'm just saying it's a little ironic.
