Is that Thomas Dewey?
I have a favourite anecdote about Dewey. On election night in 1948, when it looked fairly certain he was going to beat Truman to the White House, he turned to his wife, Frances, and asked "Well, honey, how will it feel to be sleeping with the President of the United States?"
She replied, "It'll be a great honour and I shall look forward to it."
Next morning at breakfast, Frances broke the uncomfortable silence with "Well, Tom, am I going to Washington or is Harry coming here?"
