I don't remember what the thread was talking about now. But today I was flipping channels and boy are there a lot of church channels on Sunday in Kansas USA! The 700 club is like the Kansan version of public radio. Sad, and true.
Based on what the pastor was saying, Christian "meaning" and "purpose" was quite clear:
"Stick up for what you believe in, good soldier. There might be a day when you are forced to stand up for your beliefs with your life, so do it every day in your life now. Even more importantly you want to stand before god clean as a Lamb because there is a judgement and heaven and hell await us all. Ultimate justice is possible. The time of the rapture is nigh. "
That's about as far as I got. I find it interesting that I used to soak up those words like they were going to save my life, once.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!
Dead wrong. The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.
I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.
