There's also the bit in 2 Thessalonians (can't be arsed to look up chapter and verse at the moment) which says, 'And for this reason, God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.'

Well, if God is willing to delude people into believing lies, then why should we trust anything that his followers say he says?
