Years ago I played the fanfare trumpet part in that piece. It was the first time I'd played in an orchestra with a choir.
So I think I understand that man's excitment because it's a very powerful piece.
I wonder what would happen if they had no seats and people had to stand?
I've played at many jazz gigs where everyone including the band was standing and it helps the music for us to see the audience getting into it. :-)
