RE: Scientist ejected by audience after trying to crowd surf at classical music concert

I was a classical music major in a college with predominantly jazz majors in an extremely liberal and laid-back part of the country (yes, we have those here). Our concerts were a lot of fun. My senior year, I had a gig at Carnegie Hall, and I was over the moon about it. Halfway through the performance, I realized how stuffy the audience was, and it surprised me. I had definitely been to stuffy performances before, but I had never experienced it from a performer's perspective. That was a major turning point for me in my career, because I couldn't see myself enjoying performing if I couldn't get a rise out of my audience. That experience led to me deciding not to perform as a career. Sad, really.
If that guy was crowd surfing at one of my shows, I'd encourage it. Fuck those stuffy audience members!
