First of all: Pay the guy who was the owner of the house in the month you owe money. Especially if you are late on payment (which seems to be the case, unless it is normal to mention eviction on any bills you get). This could very well mean that you owe both of them a percentage of the rent for said month.
Mind you: I'm from the Netherlands so I don't know how the specifics would go in your country, but even over here I would either pay both bills and fight it later, or get legal help straight away.
I tried looking up some specific Minnesotan law on it, came up empty, but I did stumble upon this:
"Minnesota law gives tenants (depending on income and amount of rent paid) a partial refund for the property taxes they pay indirectly through their rent. (215) To be eligible a tenant must rent a property tax-paying unit. If the tenant is renting from the government, a private college, some other person, or other entity not required to pay property taxes or make payments in lieu of taxes, the tenant is not eligible for a refund."
