Are you claiming there are no discrepancies, or that there are less than the 'multitude' atheists always come up with?

I want to make sure I understand your position clearly.

I think there are some differences in relating the events such as you might find when a few witnesses tell about the same event. The bible was written by human authors. I think it was meant that we should use our brains when interpreting it. When Matthew tells of the sermon on mount and Luke says he went down and stood on a level place, I don't call this a discrepancy.

Just because you can look on the net and see two sides to a question doesn't mean that the both have an equal claim to truth. Here's the particular discrepancy you tried to answer:

The Bible says Jesus was born during Census of 6-7 CE and reign of Herod. Sometime after Jesus' birth, Joseph takes Mary and Jesus to Egypt and stays there with them until Herod dies. Jesus is supposed to have died in Jerusalem in about 32 CE.

The problem is that there is no King Herod or even a combination of Herods that squares with the 6-7 CE birth date.

Herod the Great, 73/74 BCE – 4 BCE : Died too soon to be king in 6-7 BCE let alone the Herod whose death Joseph was waiting for.

Herod Archelaus (23 BC – c. 18 CE): Was the ethnarch of Samaria, Judea (including Bethlehem), and Idumea (biblical Edom) from 4 BC to 6 CE. Replaced by Roman Prefect in 6 CE. Died too late to be the Herod whose death Joseph waited for and had been relieved of power before Joseph fled.

Herod Antipater, nicknamed Antipas (your choice) sometime before 20 BCE-39 CE: Governor of Galilee and Peoria, but not Judia (so not Bethlehem) from 5 BCE to 29 CE. Died about twenty-five years too late to be the King whose death Joseph waited for.

The apologists just say Antipater and then ignore the problem of the flight to Egypt and the inconvenient fact that he wasn't ruler of Judea.

Seriously though, I thought this was a thread addressed to theists about gods other than their own. Lek, do you think everyone should do their due diligence in regard to every god claim ever made?

Yeah, but for most it takes about five seconds. Do you know of any that have more supporting evidence than christianity? If so, which one?

No. All the religions I know of are supported the same way, by tradition sometimes recorded in a book or books. Some of those books are much older than the Old Testament. None of them are historically accurate books. The worst of the lot is the most recent: The Book of Mormon. It contradicts just about everything we know about North America.

The point is that Christianity is no better or worse. So if you will accept Christianity on the basis of a book, why not the Koran?
